Nappy Folds
Should you choose a flat nappy that requires folding here are a few folds to get you started. These can be used on either terry squares as a main nappy, or with a muslin if you want a really diddy nappy for the tiny newborn stage. Click on images to view close up.
The Kite Fold
Start by placing the nappy as a diamond in front of you. Fold the right & left corners in*. Fold the top triangle down. Fold the point upwards as many times as is necessary to suit your baby size. Luy baby onto nappy (along with liner / booster etc as required). Fold nappy up between legs & around the waiste. Secure with nappi nippa.
*This step can be repeated for a very small baby
The Origami Fold
Fold the nappy in half (upwards), then in quarters (folding to the left). With your left hand hold onto the bottom 3 layers in the top left corner. With your right hand pull the top left corner across to the right. Carefully flip the entire nappy over. Fold the square part in thirds creating an absorbant pad in the middle. Luy baby onto nappy (along with liner / booster etc as required). Fold nappy up between legs & around the waiste. Secure with nappi nippa.
The Cone Fold
Start by folding all four corners into the centre of the nappy. Then fold this square in 3 by first folding in from the left and then from the right, creating a pad. Lightly place a finger a bit over half way down on the left hand side of the pad & pull open the top layer. Then do the same to the second layer, opening to the left. Luy baby onto nappy (along with liner / booster etc as required). Fold nappy up between legs & around the waiste. Secure with nappi nippa.
